Objective The clinical features and correlation factors were investigated to assess the importance of polymyositis with myocardial damage. Methods Ninety-six inpatients were studied in polymyositis with myocardial damage for the clinical features, incidence rate and correlation factors. Results The incidence rate of polymyositis with myocardial damage was 27.1%.Elevated serum creatine kinease-MB(CK-MB),CTnI and abnormity in electrocardiography(ECG)were three important indexes to make a diagnosis for polymyositis with myocardial damage.Multiple factors logistic regression analysis revealed that antinuclear antibody (ANA)was correlated with polymyositis following myocardial damage, while gender, erythrocyte sedimentation rate or the course of disease was not associated. Conclusion Myocardial damage is not rare a complication in polymyositis, and it is related to patient's condition and prognosis.Myocardial damage may be present even though the heart symptom is mild or without any symptoms. It is play a key role to the protection of heart in patients with polymyositis.
