Effectiveness And Safety Of Traditional Chinese Medicine On Allergic Rhinitis: A Systematic Review

Objective: The aim of study was to systematic reviewing the Effectiveness and the safety of the traditional Chinese medicine to allergic rhinitis by the means of evidence-based medince.Method: Collecting clinical documentation comprehensively of traditional Chinese medicine on allergic rhinitis which was published between the year 1984 to 2008.1. Sorting out the documentations by principle of Evidence-Based Medince and epidemiology, Setting standard of indrawing and excluding, drawing up a form of the documentations to traditional Chinese medicine on allergic rhinitis, and then assessing the quality of the documentationgs by the evaluating standard of Jadad, Use heterogeneity analysis and Meta-analysis and sensitivity analysis and Funnel plot to statist interrelated data ; and systematic review the effectiveness and the safety of the traditional Chinese medicine on allergic rhinitis. Result: Sixty-six studies involving, 8154 patients were included. Meta-analyses found remarkable significant difference in effectiveness between TCM and antihistamine (P<0.00001); in the same way, the TCM of tonify Yang Qi and dredge nose, the TCM that tonify Yang Qi and dredge nose combined with antihistamine drug, and the TCM of tonify qi and reducing fever also has remarkable significant difference in effectiveness compare with antihistamine. The TCM of tonify the kidney and support yang has not obvious difference in effectiveness compare with antihistamine. OF the long-term follow-up result,it also has remarkable significant difference between TCM effect between TCM and antihistamine. Conclusion TCM is effective in allergic rhinitis,and the contraceptive effect is not obviously.
