Objective: To investigate the expression of Caspase-3 ,Fas and AQp4 in the rat brain based on subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH), and to find the significance of clinical medicine and forensic medicine. Methods: SAH model was induced with two times injections of arterial blood into the cisterna magna. Sixth healthy SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups,including control group (n=6),sham-operation group (n=6),SAH group [n=48,it included 6 rats in every phase (2h,4h,8h,16h,1d,3d,5d,7d )]. The morphological changes of the neurons in the rat brain were observed by light microscope. The expression changes of Caspase-3, Fas and AQP4 were performed By immunohistochemistry technology.Results:The numbers of apoptotic neurons and hydropic neurons in the brain after SAH were increased at the 2nd hour, the typical apoptotic and hydropic features in the brain after SAH were showed from 3th day to 7th day. The expressions of Caspase-3,Fas and AQP4 in the brain after SAH augmented at the 2th hour and reached peak on the 3th day , and keeped higher level until the 7th day. There was statistical significance on SAH group compared with control group or sham-operation group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Caspase-3 and Fas may participate the process of apoptosis in the brain, AQP4 could be participated the process of apoptosis in the brain , Caspase-3 is one of the most important factors in the process of apoptosis in the brain ,AQP4 could play a important role in the process of edema in the brain . There were some relationship about the expression of Caspase-3,Fas and AQP4 in the brain after subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats.
