| Peri-menopausal depression is a kind of mood disorder which initially occurs during peri-menopause. In recent years, more and more scholars began to pay attention to peri-menopausal depression. From formerly conducted studies, it was considered that the changes in estrogen before and after menopause is correlated with this kind of depression. The existing studies suggested that estrogen exert a significant modulation for brain function, what's more, the interaction of changes in estrogen with the neurotransmitters, is also associated with occurrences of peri-menopausal depression. And the diagnosis of peri-menopausal depression should be not only from pchological aspect,but also from physical aspects,etc.So as to find it as early as possiable and take treatment timely. Objective To investigate the scores of Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression and the serum estrogen level in women with peri-menopausal depression and to study the relation of estrogen on the occurrence of peri-menopausal depression and the relation between the serum estrogen level and the scores of Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression. Methods The 40 cases selected the resident patients of the clinical psychological department of the first affiliated hospital of xinjiang medical university from 2002.1 to 2008.2,and with the age of (45 ~55) years ,the mean age is (49.42±3.16).Serum estrogen levels from 8:00 am to 9:00 am were detected by radioimmunoassay in 40 normal menopausal women and 40 cases of peri-menopausal depression.They aged from 45 to 55 years ,the mean age is (49.20±2.42).And collect the scores of Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression. Result Estrogen level was much lower in 40 cases of peri-menopausal depression than 40 normal menopausal women (P<0.001).The lower level of the estrogen in peri-menopausal depression patients ,the higher scores of Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression. They are have the nagetive correlation.Conclusion The occurrence of peri-menopausal depression and other peri-menopausal symptoms in menopausal women may be related to the decrease of estrogen level,and the relationship between the estrogen level in peri-menopausal depression patients and the scores of Hamilton Rating Scales for Depression.show the nagetive correlation;but the specific correlation of the above them has not been proved yet. |
