A Comprehensive System For Predicting Difficult Airway Of Patients With Thyroid Tumor

Object To evaluate the feasibility of the comprehensive system for predicting difficult airway of patients with Thyroid Tumor. Methods 89 patients with Thyroid Tumor were evaluated with Mallampati class, and evaluated with the comprehensive system preoperatively. The sensitivity, fail-diagnosis rate, miss- diagnostic rate and specificity of the comprehensive system were calculated and compared with the same indexes of Mallampati class. Results Of all the 89 patients, the trachea proved difficult to intubate was 7.The sensitivity of the comprehensive system was 85.7%,While the sensitivity of Mallampati class was57.1%, The difference was statistically significant. The miss-diagnostic rate of the comprehensive system was 14.3%,the miss-diagnostic rate of Mallampati class was42.9%,While the difference was statistically significant. The fail-diagnosis rate and specificity had no statistically significant difference between the two methods. Conclusion the comprehensive system for predicting difficult airway of patients with Thyroid Tumor is one of the suitable methods to predict difficult airway of patients with Thyroid Tumor. It can help to identify difficult cases according to the result of this predicting system.
