Objective: To summarize Professor Yang Ming-hui's academic thought and clinical experience on the treatment of bronchial hyperesponsiness (BHR) cough. We evaluate the traditional Chinese's curative effect on treating the bronchial hyperesponsiness cough with observing three factors: the BHR patients' local airway inflammation; the clinical symptoms and the recurrent rate.Method: To summarize Professor Yang's clinical experience on treating bronchial hyperesponsiness cough, explain the bronchial hyperesponsiness cough's mechanism and cause of disease in detail and the clinical commonly used principle of treatment. Then we carried on the conclusion through the clinical test. 62 subjects diagnosed as BHR patients were randomly divided and labeled as 31 Chinese medicine group and 31 control group. The Chinese medicine group received Zi Yin Qing Re Yin twice a day and the control group received 100mg Theophylline sustained-release capsules twice a day. Clinical effects evaluating means including clinical symptoms, the bronchial infrared ray imagine of both groups were applied and the results compared after receiving the treatment for two weeks. Furthermore, relapsed cough was also observed and compared one month after the termination of the treatment. Results: Two weeks after receiving the medicine, the symptoms of the Chinese medicine group patients were obviously alleviated, difference in temperature of the bronchial mucosa tissue decreased remarkably. Also, the overall outcome was more satisfying than that of the Control group patients receiving Western medicine. Furthermore, one month after terminating the treatment, the relapsed cough rate of the Chinese medicine group patients was lower than that of the Control group patients. All the differences have been statistically proved as significant. The recurrence rate was also proved significant that traditional Chinese medicine treatment group is 16.1% and the western medicine controlgroup is the 41.9%.Conclusion: The Zi Yin Qing Re therapy of Professor Yang Ming-hui on treatingbronchial hyperesponsiness cough can improve patients' local airwayinflammation and relieve the symptoms obviously. The recurrent rate wassignificantly pooer than that of control group. It has some superiority prefer toWestern medicine treatment.
