Clinical analysis on laparoscopic cholecystectomy of the aged laparoscopic operation has been widely used in the clinic ,especially in the cholecystectomy taking advantage of its merits, such as minimal invasion, less trauma, rapid recovery et al. Be of its good qualities, the minimally invasive surgery has been widely applied in appendectomy , splenectomy , nephrectomy, hysterectomy and many other operations. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the first choice for elders with benign; lesion of the gallbladder indicated for surgery ; the long term results are much better than those oflaparotomi cholecystectomy. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has been adopted by many as the treatment of choice for uncomplicated biliary lithiasis; since an increasing number of surgeons use LC even in complicated cases, we examined our series in order to see if this is the correct procedure. We report on the results of our first 75 LC and compare them with our latest 35 open cholecystectomies, in order to evaluate number and importance of postoperative complications. Besides we compare complications in patients below and over 60 years of age to verify if age bears any significance. We found no difference in frequency of complications among patients younger or older than 60; highly significant is, on the contrary, the difference in complications between the two procedures, the incidence being much lower in the laparoscopic one. We state that LC is a safe and effective procedure and suggest it as the method of choice for the treatment of any symptomatic gallbladder stone disease. Objective:To evaluate the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC) in elderly patients, and explore measure show to keep away itËŠs risk. Methods:The clinical data of elderly patients treated by LC(n=75) and open cholecystectomy(OC) (n=35), whose age were over 60 was analyzed retrospectively and compared with that of the other adult patients(n=175) undergone LC at the same stage. Results:The rate of combined other disease was extremely significant higher in the two elderly groups(P<0.001). Both of the two groups of LC were recovered smoothly with no serious complications; there were no significant different about the mean time spent on LC and postoperative hospitalization as well as the rate of converting to laparotomy between the two LC groups(P>0.05). But it was found the two indexes were extremely significant longer(P<0.001), and postoperative complications increased too(P<0.05).Conclusions:Only if pay more attention to perioperative managements, estimate the anaesthesia and operation correctly and command operative time and technical skill. Not only LC is safe for elderly patients, but also its great advantage of minimally invasive surgery will emerge further.
