Objective To observe the clinical efficacy.,adverse effects and expenditure of moxifloxacin sequential therapy compared with continuing intraven -ous moxifloxacin in the treatment of acute exacerbation chronic obstructive of pulm -onary disease. Methods A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted, The pati -ents with AECOPD were enrolled, The patients in the observed group were given in -travenous moxifloxacin moxifloxacin 400mg, once a day, for 5 days, then, followed wirh oral use moxifloxacin 400mg, once a day, total to 8~10 days. The patients in the control group were given in travenously moxifloxacin 400mg, once a day, contin -ued for 8~10 days. Observe and compare their efficacy rates, bacterial eradication rates, adverse drug reactions and their average expenditure between the two groups. Results thirty-two patients were enrolled, 16 patients were given moxiflox -acin sequential therapy and 16 patients were given another .at the last day after com -pletion of therapy, the efficacy rates were 87.5% in the observed group and 80.13% in the control group . the bacterial eradication rates were 81.82% in the observed gro -up and 83.33% in the in the control group respectively. There were no significant statistec differences of the above results between the two groups (P>0.05).however, There were 2 cases with adverse drug reactions in the observed group and 4 cases in the control group. There were statistecly different between the two groups(P<0.05). moreover the average expenditure of the observed group is 2958±18.30 yuan , chea -per than the control 3710±24.35 yuan, There were also statistecly different betw -een them(P<0.05).Conclusion The results suggest that moxifloxacin sequential therapy have similar clinical efficacy compared with continuing intravenous moxifloxacin in the treatment of AECOPD, but moxifloxacin sequential therapy is more safe and more economical.
