Population aging process accelerated development of socialized pension institutions. Investigating the elderly pension demand for the services, improving life quality of aged people, caring their physical and mental health have attracted widespread concern in the community. Along with the development of medicine and transform of medical model, mental health conditions of aged people receive more and more attention. People are no longer satisfied to reflect health conditions of individuals or groups with illness frequency, clinical treatment and the survival rate. In the background of increased objective health level and updated subjective health concepts, there appears Subjective Well-being (SWB), which is an important content in evaluating quality of life. SWB is self-evaluation and expectations of aged people to their health, living conditions and the quality of life, which is based on their own psychological experience regardless to other people's evaluation, in that SWB is an effective supplement to"health"meaning. As an integrated indicator reflecting psychological situation, an important dimension of research about quality of life of aged people and an important subject of elderly mental health, Subjective Well-being (SWB) has been widely used in gerontology research in many nations. With the issuance of "successful aging", the elderly SWB research is undoubtedly of important significance both in theory and in practice.1. Research on SWB and the Influence Factor of Aged People in Socialized Pension Institution of Xi'anAims: Study SWB and its influence factors in socialized pension institutions and provide theoretical foundation to choose suitable pension methods. Methods: A cross-sectional investigation was taken to investigate the aged people in 20 socialized pension institutions in 6 administrative areas that registered in Xi'an Civil Affairs Bureau from July to September in 2006; we measured SWB, demographic and social factors, self evaluation, negative life events, social supporting situation and depression mood etc. Measurement tools include common demography questionnaire made by ourselves and three standardized self-rating measuring scales, they are Memorial University of Newfoudland Scale of Happiness, Social Suport Rating Scale and the Geriatric Depression Scale. Results: There was no statistic difference between aged people with difference in gender, ages, marriage status, nations, religion, education and per capita incomes (P>0.05). Multivariable stepwise regression showed there 8 main influence factors to elderly SWB enter into regression equation and the total variance explanation of SWB reach to 43.8% : the influence factor from big to small in turns are: optimistic character, self evaluation in the family and society, health depravation, employment difficulties of children. self evaluation to economic status, hobby, self evaluation to living conditions and the quantity of diseases. Pearson correlation analysis showed: there was negative correlation between depression mood and SWB total score, positive affection and positive experience, there was positive correlation between depression mood and negative affection and negative experience. The dimension of SWB is significant related with dimensions of SSRS; thereinto, there was positive correlation between positive affection, positive experience and dimensions of SSRS; there was negative correlation between negative affect, negative experience and dimensions of social support.Discussion: With the speedup of aging process and the weakened old-age care function of traditional families, the socialized old-age care is an inexorable trend. The society should strengthen social support to aged people and create a good social environment; empower aged people with utility of social support, let them correctly understand, accept, seek and utilize social support, in that aged people living in pension institutes will not loose a sense of family, life privacy, a sense of security and a sense of belonging. It is social responsibility to care about physical and mental health and living experience of aged people; improve living conditions of aged people; set up consummate social pension institutes to provide comprehensive, systematic, standardized service for aged people.2. Case-control study on elderly SWB in socialized pension institutes Aims: Based on cross-sectional investigation, we analyzed SWB and its influence factors in socialized pension institutions by case control study to investigate pension demands of aged people and provide theoretical foundation for suitable pension methods. Methods: 462 cases with complete scales were as sampling frame, which were investigated in 20 socialized pension institutes in six administrative areas of Xi'an from July to September in 2006. Case group: 113 cases with MUNSH≤24 (total scores of SWB); control group: aged people with MUNSH≥36 (total scores of SWB) were chosen by 1:1 ratio with case group. Matching factors:①same gender;②age difference within 3 years old;③same nation;④living in the same pension institute or pension institute in the same administrative area. Results: 1.Single factor conditional Logistic regression analysis showed there were statistical significance of SWB in 15 factors (P<0.05): away from married (lose spouse or divorce), medical cost was paid by oneself, with many kinds of diseases (more than 3 kinds), bad economic status, bad living conditions, bad living conditions of children, discontent to socialized pension institutions which they lived;discontent to one's status in society or in the family; deterioration of health, financial straits, employment difficulties of children , conflictive of kith and kin and depression mood;their personality is not optimism and they couldn't initiative taking knowledge of health care and with no hobbies. 2. Multiple factor conditional Logistic regression analysis showed influencing factors including evaluation to economic status (OR=2.778,OR95%CI=1.127~6.848), pessimism(OR=11.094,OR95%CI=3.078~39.982)and with no hobby(OR=4.552,OR95%CI=0.929~22.295).Conclusions: The main risk factors of aged people in pension institutes are bad economic status, pessimism character and with no hobby.
