Objective To explore the postimplant complications of permanent cardiac pacemakers, their reason, treatment and preventive measures. Methods The records of 326 patients receiving a permanent pacemaker were reviewed and complications of the patients were analyzed. Results There were 20 cases of complications after the permanent cardiac pacemaker implantation,3 cases(0.92%) of wrong puncture in clavicle artery, 1 cases(0.31%) pneumothorax, 1 cases(0.31%)coronary sinus dissection, 1 cases (0.31%) of injecting bubble to corronary vein, 2 cases(0.61%) of disturbance of perception, 1 cases(0.31%) of battery exhaust advanc, 1 cases(0.31%) of pacemaker syndrome, 1 cases (0.31%) of pacemaker mediated tachycardi,3 cases(0.92%)of electrode displacement, 4cases (1.23%) of pocket hematoma,1 cases(0.31%)of drain strip split, 1 cases(0.31%) of pocket infection. Conclusion Good prognosis will be resulted from deep understanding of the usual complications, increased differentiating ability, emphasized preoperation prevention, standardized operation, strengthened follow-up as well as the education of pacemaker knowledge, early discovery and treatment of the complications.
