Retrospective Analysis Of Permanent Pacemaker Case In 30 Years

Objective: To carry out a survey of the operation data of patients in the Quill hospital of ShanDong University,who received a permanent pacemaker during 1981-2004 and analysize primary diseases and indications of the permanent pacemaker patients in this region .To analysize causative and morbidity of the complications associatated to operation and pacemaker . To learn quantity and types of single-chamber and dual-chamber pacemaker compared to other region and countries.To survey the number of new pacemaker and replacement pacemaker in the clinical cases during these years and the venous routines of the pacemaker leads.To Analysize the parameters of the replacement pacemaker in order to make guide to clinical work in the future .Methods: Use the 《Pacemaker Management System》 software which was specifically designed for the pacemaker's clinical work.. Information about pacemaker patients and pacemakers was obtained from the QiLu hospital of ShanDong University during the years 1981-2004.The number of pacemaker patients was 1084 in total .mean ages 60.58±21.63. male 566,female 518.Cornary artery disease 677,Myocarditis and it's sequelae 128,Cardiomyopathy 56(hypertrophy cardiomyopathy 9,Dilated cardiomyopathy 33),Valvular disease and Rethumatic heart disease 25,Congenital heart disease 18.1184 pacemakers is operated in the sum.1031 is first operated,others is replaced.The majority venous routine is cephalic vein.Results: The number types and percent of pacemaker from 1981 to 2004,the indication's change trends,primary diseases in different ages,morbidity of the complication ,parameters of replaced pacemaker and the venous routine of the leads . see table 1-8Conclusion: 1 . The total number of the pacemaker is increasing from 1981 to 2OO4.The number of physiologic pacemaker is increasing in the same time.but the application of pacemaker is not enough compared to developed countries2 . The operation technique is more and more skillful The experience is plentiful and the percent of complication is lower.3 . The new indication is less except symptomatic bradycardia .
