Objective:To investigate the expression and significance of MMP-2 TIMP-2,Fas and FasL in the uterine leiomyoma.Method:50 cases of uterine leiomyoma tissue,50 cases of normal myometrial tissue were detected for MMP-2,TIMP-2,Fas,FasL by immunohistochemisry technique, and analysed relationships between expression of MMP-2,TIMP-2,Fas,FasL and some clinical symptoms.Result:(1)The positive ratio of expression of MMP-2 in 50 cases of uterine leiomyoma tissues was 52.0%(26/50), which was significantly higher than those in the normal myometrial tissue 28.0%(14/50), (P<0.05),The positive ratio of expression of TIMP-2 in two groups was 26.0% (13/50),20%(10/50) respectively. There was no difference between two groups(P>0.05).The positive ratio of expression of Fas in two groups was 62.0%(31/50),22.0% (11/50) respectively. There was a difference between two groups.(P<0.05) The positive ratio of expression of FasL was 12.0%(6/50),6.0%(3/50) respectively,There was no difference between two groups(P>0.05).(2) Some significant relations were found between the numbers and sizes of the leiomyoma in the uterine and the positive expression levels of MMP-2(P<0.05),There were some significant relationships between the numbers of the leiomyoma in the uterine and the positive expression levels of Fas(P<0.05).(3) No relations between the expression and the nations were found.(P>0.05) Conclusion:(1).It was suggested that there was a close relationship between pathogenesis and development of uterine leiomyomas and the expression levels of MMP-2,TIMP-2,Fas,FasL in the uterine leiomyoma tissues.(2) There was a closed relationship between clinical signs and the expression levels.(3) There was no significant relationship between the expression levels and the nations.
