Since 1877 when Radziszewsk first discovered the chemiluminescence(CL)phenomena, chemiluminescence has went across almost a hundred course.Compared with other analytical methods,CL analysis has many merits such as simple instrumentation, rapidity, high sensitivity, wide linear range and so on.Because of these advantages,CL analysis attracts analysts' much recognition, and has been widely applied in various fields:biotechnology, pharmacology, medicine and environmental analytical.New CL methods for the determination of europium(Ⅲ),terbium(Ⅲ), calcium levofolinate and iodine were developed on the bassis of briefly reviewing recent development of CL analysis in rare earths and pharmaceuticals. Also new application of microheterogeneous system of micelles and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)in CL analysis was discussed. Finally,we successfully carried out the iodine analysis by utilizing the reversed micelles mediated chemiluminescence. The major research contenst are described as follows:1.Determination of europium(Ⅲ)by luminol-potassium permanganate chemiluminescence systemA new method is proposed for the determination of Eu(Ⅲ),which is based on the fact that chemiluminescence(CL)of luminol-potassium permanganate could be strongly inhibited by the rare earth Eu(Ⅲ)in alkaline solution.Under the optimized conditions, the linear range is from 5.0×10-8 mo/L to 2.0×10-5mol/L with the detection limit of 1.4×10-8mol/L.The relative standard derivation is 1.1%for 8.0×10-6mol/L Eu(Ⅲ)(n=11).The effects of foreign chemical compounds and ions on Eu(Ⅲ)determination have been examined. This method has been applied to the determination of Eu(Ⅲ)in the synthetical samples, and a possible CL mechanism of luminol-potassium permanganate-Eu(Ⅲ)system has also been supposed based on the fluorescence and UV-visible spectra.2.Determination of terbium(Ⅲ)by Flow Injection-Inhibition ChemiluminescenceIn the basic medium,Tb(Ⅲ)could inhibit the chemiluminescence(CL)of luminol-potassium permanganate system.Based on this fact,a new flow injection chemiluminescence method for the determination of Tb(Ⅲ)has been developed.Under optimized conditions, the system responds linearly to Tb(Ⅲ)concentration in the range of 1.0×10-7-1.0×10-5mol/L with the detection limit of 2.0×10-8mol/L.The relative standard deviation(RSD)is 1.19%for 8.0×10-7mol/L Tb(Ⅲ)(n=11). This method has been applied to the determination of Tb(Ⅲ)in the synthetic samples, and the results are satisfactory.3.Flow-injection chemiluminescence determination of calcium levofolinate in serumIn our research,we detect another strong CL signal when injecting calcium folinate into the reaction mixture of potassium permanganate-formaldehyde.Based on this phenomenon,a new FIA-CL method for calcium levofolinate has been developed.Under the optimized conditions, the linear range is from 0.001 to 1.0μg/mL with the detection limit of 4.7×10-4μg/mL.The relative standard derivation is 0.94%for 1.0μg/mL calcium levofolinate(n=11).The proposed method has been applied to the determination of calcium levofolinate in serum, and the recoveries of this method are between 92-117%.4.Determination of iodine by reversed micelles mediated chemiluminescenceIn reversed micelle media of cetyltrimethylammonium chloramide(CTAC),formed in 6:5(V/V) chloroform/cyclohexane-water(0.35 M Na2CO3)containing luminol, the chemiluminescence produced from iodine and luminol reaction can be greatly enhanced.Based on this,a fast and sensitive stopped-flow injection for determination of iodine is proposed. The effects of R([H2O]/[CTAC]),concentration of surfactant CTAC,pH,luminol concentration on the CL intensity are investigated detailedly.Under the optimized conditions, the linear range is 0.005-2.0μg/mL and the detection limit is 0.001μg/mL;the relative standard derivation is 3.83%for 1.0μg/mL iodine(n=11).The present method is applied to the determination of iodine in table salt, and the result is satisfactory.
