Objective: To analyze the expression and clinicopathological relationship of PCNA and P53 in benign and malign gallbladder diseases. Methods: The immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression and clinicopathological relationship of PCNA and P53 in benign and malign gallbladder diseases(including 37 specimens of gallbladder carcinoma, 9 cases of gallbladder adenoma and 10 cases chronic cholecystitis. 12 cases of cholecystoadenomyomatosis)Result: Positive immunoreactivity was detected in a proportion of 97.3% for PCNA, 54.1% for P53 in the gallbladder carcinoma, respectively. There was a significant difference in malignant lesion than in benign diseases. Furthermore significant correlation was found between the expression of PCNA and P53 (r =0.41,P<0.01).Conclusion: P53 mutation and over expression of PCNA may play a role in the occurrence of gallbladder carcinoma. Associating P53 and PCNA can offer a valuable reference to diagnosis and treatment.
