Objective:To Investigate the relationship among HbA1c concentrations and coronary artery status and other established cardiovascular risk factors in patients with coronary artery disease . Our aim is to find it is importance for predicting coronary heart disease. Methods: A total of 140 patients(mean age59.86±8.59 years ,men 88, women 52) were selected consecutivly from January 2006 to January 2007. All subjects had previously known clinical evidence of CHD confirmed by typical history ,positive results of ECG or exercise testing. Coroary angiography was performed in all patients .The severity of pathological changes of the coronary artery was assessed by the number of diseased coronary branches and Gensini's score.According to the results of CAG, the 140 patients were divided into two groups:CHD group(n=90) and non-CHD group as control(n=50).The CHD patients were further divided into subgroups according to the the number of diseased coronary branches and Gensini's score. HbA1c concentrations, fasting glucose, Postload Glucose,C reactive protein(CRP), fibrinogen(Fbg), blood pressure were measured, and age,sex and prior medical histories including hypertensionand smoking status were obtained before CAG in all patients. HbA1c,CRP and Fbg were compared statistically between the subgroups, and correlation coefficient of HbA1c concentrations with CRP and Fbg was calculated.Results:①HbA1cconcentrations in the patients of the CHD group were significantly higher than that in the patients of the control group.②HbA1c concentrations increased with the increasing number of diseased coronary branches and Gensini's score in CHD patients.③Gensini's score was positively correlated with HbA1c concentrations in CHD patients, HbA1c concentrations was positively correlated with CRP and Fbg in CHD group and non-CHD group.④L ogistic regression analysis showed that HbA1c age were closely related with the coronary artery disease. Conclusion: HbA1c concentrations can be used as a parameter to predict pathological severity of coronary atherosclerosis,it was positively correlated with CRP and Fbg. HbA1c is the risk factor of CHD.
