Objective To investigate the effective and different stage imaging manifestation of soft-tissue VX2 carcinoma of rabbit treatment with percutaneous acetic acid injection.Materials and Methods With ultrasound guided,50% acetic acid was injected into soft-tissue VX2 carcinoma of 11 rabbits,then ultrasound imaging were observed at once. Magnetic resonace(MR) was performed in 12 rabbits before injection ,after 1 day in 11 rabbits,7days in 2 rabbits and 14 days in 1 rabbit.Plain computed tomography(CT) was performed after 1 day in 11 rabbits,7days in 2 rabbits and 14days in 1 rabbit.Hstopathologic findings were correlated with imaging finds.Results 11 rabbits were treated with acetic acid. Absolute coagulation necrosis was showed in 10 rabbits,and partly carcinoma exsited in 1 rabbit. High echo correlated mainly with coagulation necrosis and gas was investigated immediately after injection of acetic acid. After 1 day,High signal intensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted at MR correlated mainly with coagulation necrosis was showed. Low signal intensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted at MR correlated with gas manifested low density on CT.A11 lesions exhibited arterial phase rim enhancement on MR mainly because of inflammation. Low signal intensity on T1-weighted and high signal intensity on T2-weighted at MR correlated with liquefaction and liquid.VX2 carcinoma partly existed in one rabbit which is diffcult to differentiate. After 7 days and 14 days, high signal intensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted at MR correlated mainly with coagulation necrosis,granulation tissue and fissure tissue was showed in 2 rabbits and 1 rabbit. These three lesions exhibited arterial phase rim enhancement on MR mainly because of granulation tissue. The range of gas manifested on CT and MRI enlarged.Conclusions Percutaneous acetic acid injection guided by ultrasound is effective to soft-tissue VX2 carcinoma of rabbit. After acetic acid injection,high echo was exhibited at ultrasound. High signal intensity on T1-weighted and T2-weighted was exhibited at MR. Arterial phase rim enhancement was exhibited on MR around the lesions. Partly existed VX2 carcinoma was diffcult to differentiate. Low density was showed on plain CT. Imaging of gas was showed on ultrasound,CT and MR.
