Male urological and reproductive organs which have complex structure lies in retroperitoneal space deep and are adjacent to many digestive organs such as liver, spleen, pancreas, small intestine, colon, rectum. It is very useful in clinical diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases to recognize the complicated distribution and extensity of the anatomical structures of the male urological and reproductive organs through thin sectional anatomy and three-dimensional visualization. In this study, the acquisition of technique of visible human data set was used to obtain the visible male abdominal cavity and pelvic cavity. Meanwhile, the images of the male urological and reproductive organs with correlative MRI images can be observed meticulously in order to recognize the position and spacial relationship of the male urological and reproductive organs. After being registered accurately with Photoshop 7.0 software, the male urological and reproductive organs such as kidney, adrenal, ureter, bladder, male urethra, prostate, spermaduct, seminal vesicle and the adjacent organs such as abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava, thoracic duct, the lymph nodes beside abdominal aorta, the nephritic artery and vein, the intrailiac artery and vein, pelvis, the prostatic plexus and internal obturator muscle can be segmented and surface rendering three-dimensional reconstructed with 3D-DOCTOR software. With amira 4.1 software, the thin sectional anatomical images of the male urological and reproductive organs can be volume rendering reconstruted and the urological and reproductive organs can be visualized and virtually anatomised from any plane. At the same time, the anatomic structures of the male urological and reproductive organs could be observed clearly at any angle. The main results and conclusions were as follows.1. After being registration and format transformation, the thin sectional images of 1 series of data set about male abdominal and pelvic cavity which were selected from CVH data sets were compared with the correlated MRI images from the visible human data set. The anatomic structures of the male urological and reproductive organs were observed and studied accurately. 2. With 3D-doctor software, kidney, adrenal, ureter, abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava, the nephritic artery and vein, the lymph nodes beside abdominal aorta, thoracic duct, the intrailiac artery and vein, pelvis, spermaduct, prostate, the prostatic plexus, bladder, male urethra and internal obturator muscle were segmented and three-dimensional reconstructed in P4 computer.3. With photoshop7.0 software, the major organs of the male urological and reproductive system such as ureter, bladder, urethra, prostate were segmented and the grey- color mode images through segmentation were imported to AMIRA software. With AMIRA software, the major male urological and reproductive organs through segmentation were 3D surface rendering reconstructed and the thin sectional anatomical images of the male urological and reproductive organs were 3D volume rendering reconstructed. Then, The 3D surface rendering reconstructed model and the 3D volumn rendering reconstructed model were combined and observerd meticulously.4. The 3D model of the male urological and reproductive organs which were three-dimensional reconstructed by 3D-doctor software were imported to 3DMAX software. With this software, a simply virtually endouroscopy programme were constructed.
