Objective:To study the expression and clinical significance of KAI1,HAI-1 in breast cancer.Methods:S-P and pv9000 immunohistochemistry technique and tissue chip technique were applied to detect the expression of HAI-1 and KAI1 in 119 cases of breast cancer.Results:(1)The available rate of KAI1 and HAI-1 tissue chip were 94.11%(112/119),90.75%(108/119),respectively.The total available cases of both KAI1 and HAI-1 were 108.(2)The positive rate of KAI1 in breast cancer was 44.44% (48/108).The expression of KAI1 was not associated with tumor size,menopause,but it was associated with metastasis of axillary lymph nodes,histopathological grading and clinical stage(P<0.05).The positive rate was 29.23%in the group with metastasis of axillary lymph nodes and it was 67.44%in the group without metastasis.The positive rates of them had significantly difference (P<0.05).The positive rate of the group of histopathological gradingⅠ,ⅡandⅢwere 70.83%,51.23%,23.25%,respectively.The positive rates of them had significantly difference(P<0.05).The positive rate of the clinical stageⅠ,Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣwere 73.33%,62.96%,30.30%.The positive rates of them had significantly difference(P<0.05).(3)The positive rate of HAI-1 in breast cancer was 91.67% (99/108),The expression of HAI-1 was not associated with tumor size, histopathological grading and clinical stage,but it was associated with metastasis of axillary lymph nodes and menopause(P<0.05).The positive rate of the group with metastasis of axillary lymph nodes and without metastasis were 96.92%,84.09%, respectively.The positive rates of them had significantly difference(P<0.05).The positive rates of HAI-1 in the group with metastasis of axillae lymph nodes was higher than without metastasis group.The positive rate of the menopause group and without menopause group were 82.93%,97.01%.The positive rates of them had significantly difference(P<0.05).(4)In a multivariate analysis,histopathological gradings,metastasis of axillary lymph nodes,age,tumor size and menopause were the independent prognostic factors affected the survival time.KAI1 and HAI-1 were not the independent prognostic factors affected the survival time.Conclusion:The expression of HAI-1 was higher and expression of KAI1 was lower in infiltrative dutctal carcinoma.KAI1 and HAI-1 may be playing an important role in carcinoma metastasis and might serve as a marker to predictor metastasis.
