Objective: To study the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of testicular germ cell tumor. Methods: From Mar 2000 to Mar 2005, 56 cases with testicular germ cell tumor treated in the first teaching hospital of xinjiang medical university were reported, and the clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment were analyzed retrospectively. Results: In the testicular germ cell tumor, The Han Nationality accounted for 30.4%, the Uygur national minority accounted for 57.1%,the other nationalities accounted for 12.5%. Of all the patients, 36 patients had seminomas, accounted for 64.3%, 20 patients had non-seminomas, accounted for 35.7%. The 3- year survival rates of the stage I ,II and III testicular germ cell tumors were 100%, 81.8%, 62.5%, and the 5-year survival rates were 100%, 81.8%, 31.3%.The differences between these three groups was meanful(P=0.0000). The 3-, 5-year survival rates of seminomas were 97.2% and 88.6%, and the 3-, 5-year survival rates of non-seminomas were 85% and 76.5%. The differences between these two groups was meanful(P=0.0413). Conclusion: The proportion of the Uygur patients is higher than the Han Patients. The proportion of seminomas is higher than the non-seminomus. The long-term outcome for stage I testicular germ cell tumor is excellent, The 3-, 5-year survival rates of seminomas are higher than the non-seminomas, Clinical stage and pathological type are the main prognostic factors.
