| Objective: To study the relationship between coronary atherosclerosis and carotid atherosclerosis. Materials and Methods: According to the result of carotid ultrasonography and coronary angiography, 367 patients were divided into groups of coronary atherosclerosis with different stenotic branch numbers, different stenotic severity and group with unilateral or bilateral plaques in common carotid artery (CCA). The intima-media thickness (IMT) of the common carotid artery and the stenosis severity of coronary artery were measured respectively. Results: With the increasing of the atherosclerotic stenotic branch numbers and stenotic severity in the coronary artery, the detection rates of the plaques and thickened IMT in the CCA were increased. With the increased identification of the carotid artery plaques location, the severity degree of coronary artery stenosis also increased. Conclusion: The degree of CCA atherosclerosis and lesioned location were showed close relationship with involved branches and atherosclerosis grading of the coronary artery. |
