Effect Of Probucol On Insulin Resistance And Dyslipidemia Of Old Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective To study the effect of probucol on insulin resistance and dyslipidemia of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and to approach the anti-oxidation effect of probucol on metabolic syndrome.Methods Using random and single.blind contrast,60 old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia were divided into probucol group(n=30)who were give probucol 500mg bid and control group(n=30).The levels of fasting blood glucose(FBG),2 hours postprandial blood glucose(2hPBG),fasting insulin levels(Fins),2 hours postprandial insulin(2hIns),fasting C peptide(FC-P),2 hours postprandial C peptide(2hC-P),glycosylated haemoglobin(HbA₁C),total cholesterol(T-Ch),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C),24 hours urinary microalbumin(24hUMALB),C-reactive protein(CRP),insulin sensitivity index(ISI)and homeostasis model assessment(HOMA-IR)were observed before and after 4 weeks therapy.Results Compared with two groups,the levels of FBG,2hPBG,Fins,FC-P,HbA₁C,24hUMALB,T-Ch,TG,LDL-C, CRP and HOMA-IR were decreased markedly in probucol group after treatment (P＜0.05),while the level of ISI was increased(P＜0.05).There were no significant difference of the level of 2hIns,2hC-P and HDL-C between probucol group and control group after therapy(P＞0.05).Conclusion Probucol can improve oxidative stress,insulin resistance and dyslipidemia of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Probucol can reduced urinary microalbumin excretion of old patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Probucol have therapeutic Effect of patients with metabolic syndrome.
