| Purpose To detect the expression of somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) ofthe specimens of meibomian gland carcinoma. To discuss the relationshipbetween the expression of SSTR2 and pathologic characteristics of thetumor. Methods 60 specimens of meibomian gland carcinoma and 20specimens of normal meibomian gland were collected. Every specimen wasmade 3 sections, thickness of the section was 5μm. One section was stainedby HE; one section was stained by Streptavidin-Peroxidaseimmunohistochemistry for the expression of SSTR2; one section was used forblank control by using PBS substitution the first antibody. Pictures wereanalyzed by Image—Pro Plus 6.0 (IPP 6.0). The degree of stain wasdetermined by Mean Optical Density (MOD) of sections. The difference inexpression of SSTR2 between carcinoma of meibomian gland tissues andnormal meibomian gland tissues was analysed by SPSS, version 13.0. Results Expression of SSTR2 was positive both in normal meibomiangland tissues and carcinoma of meibomian gland. The distribution of SSTR2was in plasma and membrane. MOD values in carcinoma of meibomiangland tissues were higher than it in normal meibomian gland tissues. Thedifference of MOD values was significant statistical (p=0.000<0.05). MODvalues were different in different differentiation of carcinoma of meibomiangland tissues, but the difference was not significant statistical (p=0.898>0.05). We found no significant statistical relationship between theexpression of SSTR2 and age, sex, position, course of disease, differentiation, recurrence, metastasis (p>0.05).Conclusions Expression of SSTR2 was positive both in normalmeibomian gland tissues and carcinoma of meibomian gland. Thedistribution of SSTR2 was in plasma and membrane. Expression of SSTR2in carcinoma of meibomian gland tissues was higher than expression ofSSTR2 in normal meibomian gland tissues. In expression of SSTR2, wefound no relationship in differentiated degree of meibomian gland carcinoma. |
