objective: Study the effects of Bai Wei Ling cataplasm on the mouse osteoarthritis and serum IL-6, TNF-αlevels.Methods:Using the mouse auricle swelling,capillary permeability tests and the rat leukocyte migration,tampon granuloma tests, observed the anti-inflammatory effects of Bai Wei Ling cataplasm. The method of Carrageenan-induced inflammation was used to observe the content changes of PGE2 in inflammatory tissue; Create the mouse osteoarthritis model , observed the effects on the X-ray structure, microstructure, ultrastructure of inflammatory joint and serum IL-6, TNF-αlevels.Results:Bai Wei Ling cataplasm inhibited the mouse auricle swelling induced by xylene, significantly inhibited the capillary permeability, reduced the rats'migrated leukocyte numbers ,and also obviously inhibited the rats'tampon granuloma . Bai Wei Ling cataplasm could significantly inhibit the synthesis of PGE2 in inflammatory tissue; and improve microcirculation of blood, and the ultrastructure of inflammatory joint ,and obviously reduce serum cytokines IL-6 and TNF-αlevels of mouse model.Conclusion:Bai Wei Ling cataplasm have the significant anti-inflammatory effect, protect joints in mice and inhibit the synthesis of PGE2 and reduce the releases of IL-6, TNF-α.
