Objective: To observe the distribution of T1766C polymorphism of atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP)gene, to investigate the relationship of the T1766C polymorphism of ANP gene with essential hypertension(EH) in xinjiang Kazakh ethnic. Methods: The study covered 199 hypertensive subject and 198 normotensive subject in Kazak population. The T1766C polymorphism was determined by Polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).To observe each genetype and allele frequency distribution. Result: There were significant differences of both hypertensive and normotensive group among triglyceride, BMI, low-density lipoprotein, abdominal girth and serum potassium(P<0. 01).In hypertensive group the age, SBP, serum potassium and serum sodium were significant differences among CC, TC and TT genotype. There were no significant differerces of both allele frequencies and genotype distribution between hypertensive group and normotensive group. Conclusion: No relationship was found between the T1766C polymorphism of ANP gene and essential hypertension in Kazakh ethnic of Xinjiang area.
