Objects: This survey aims at to get epidemiology survey data of chronic constipation and Northwest Dryness Syndrome in Xinjing, and also to find the relationship between chronic constipation and Northwest Dryness Syndrome on the aspects of pathogenesis and pathogenic factors. Basing on the principle of different diseases with the same therapeutic methods and relying on the treatment and prevention of Northwest Dryness Syndrome, the result will benefits us by preventing and treating the diseases including chronic constipation which are closely related to Northwest Dryness Syndrome. Methods: Basing on the Traditional Chinese Medicine theories, carry out the epidemiology survey of chronic constipation and Northwest Dryness Syndrome in Xinjiang by using the questionnaires. Analyze the report data with statistical methods. Choose Excel and SPSS13. 0 to collect and analyze data. Result: 1)The average prevalence rate of chronic constipation in Xinjiang is 21.05%, the rate is higher than north city such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai(7%~20.3%). The rate are significantly different between north-Xinjiang and west-xinjiang, the urban and the rural, man and woman, the older and the younger, Han and minority. Spicy food, lack of exercises, fear and dysphoria effect the incidence of chronic constipation. 2) The signifycant difference of the averages prevalence rate of chronic constipation exists between the patient of Northwest Dryness Syndrome and common people. Still there are more serious chronic constipations with Northwest Dryness Syndrome than the common. 3) Dry syndrome of lung, skin and opening of the body, deficiencies of essence and blood of the liver and the kidney syndrome, yin deficiencies of the spleen and stomach syndrome, which are also the main syndrome and accompanying syndrome of Northwest Dryness Syndrome, is the riskiness of chronic constipation in Xinjiang. Conclusion: Chronic constipation is a common disease in Xinjiang, the average prevalence rate of chronic constipation is significantly different between north-Xinjiang and west-xinjiang, the urban and the rural, man and woman, the older and the younger, Han and minority. Food, emotion and life style can also effect the occurrence of clinical constipation in Xinjiang. Also chronic constipation is one of the diseases which closely related to Northwest Dryness Syndrome. To deeply study Northwest Dryness Syndrome on the principle of different diseases with the same therapeutic methods can provide the benefit advise on the prevention and treatment of chronic constipation in Xinjiang.
