| Objective: To explore the factors which affect judgment of solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) benign or malignant by clinical manifestations and chest imaging features. Methods: 115 operated cases with SPN from Jan 1999 to Dec 2006 were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Their clinical data were reviewed. 10 factors which maybe mostly affecting the doctor to judge the SPN was benign or malignant were selected through reported document and clinical experience. All data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 procedure. Chi-square test was used in binary variable and t test was used in quantitative variable for single - factor analysis. Multivariate analysis of these individual variables was performed by the computer's logistic regression model. Results: There were 54 malignant SPN cases (46.96%) and 61 benign SPN cases (53.04%) in all 115 cases. Single - factor analysis showed that age, chest pain, if the SPN has thorn, segment and the peak enhancement HU value significantly affecting judgment of SPN benign or malignant. The multivariate analysis revealed that the major risk factors that affect to judge the SPN benign or malignant were if the SPN has thorn, segment. Conclusion: The imaging characteristics of if the SPN has thorn, segment can help doctor to judge the SPN benign or malignant. |
