Massive Brain Infarction A Clinical Analysis Of 56 Patients

Background:Massive brain infarction(MBI)is a type special ischemic cerebrovascular disease.Which is due to disturbance of the circulation of the Cervical internal carotid artery(CICA)or middle cerebral artery(MCA).It didn't have identified definition.The diagnosis depends on distinctive clinical features and CT,MRI.And MBI is different with other brain infarctions.Objective:To comprehend clinical features,risk factors and treatment of the MBI.Method:The clinical data of 56 cases in our hospital from January 2006 to march 2007 were analyzed retrospectively,These data include its pathogenesis, clinical features,character of imaginol0gy,therapy,prognosis and so on.Results:There were 36 male patients and 20 female patients in 56 MBI patients.The cases were middle or old aged.The mean age was 62.7 years(4-87years).The etiological included thrombus(43patients),embolism(9patients),operation(1 patient),the course unknowed(3 patients).High risk factors included hypertention(32patients),diabetes(11patients),heart diseases(14 patients),and so on.It is show that acute case,severty,patient's condition complicated.CT,MRI to show infarction of different vascular territory.Among the 56 patients,35 patients improved,21 were death.Conclusion:Most of the cases appearanced Cervical intemal carotid artery(CICA)occlusion or middle cerebral artery (MCA)occlusion.The etiological and high factors included hypertention,diabetes,heart diseases,hypercholesterol and so on.MBI is different with other brain infractions.The major characteristics are hemiparalysis,aphasia,meta-sensory disability,conscious disturbance and so on.Severity MBI is similar with brain hemorrhage.The diagnosis depends on distinctive clinical manifestation and CT,MRI.Encephaledema to threaten patient's life.The disease has bad prognosis,high death rate and high mutilation rate. Through early diagnosis and early treatment we can improve the prognosis of MBI.
