Objectives: to detect the peripheral blood levels of macrophage colony stimulating factor(M-CSF)and soluble Intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)in patients with unstable angina and to explore the clinical value of combined assay of peripheral blood M-CSF and sICAM-1 in prognosis evaluation. Methods: 108 patients were choosed according to patient history symptom screatase ECG and coronary arteriongraphy(CAG). 20 health examination persons was choosed as normal control . Blood samples of patients were collected in 24 hours after admission. The peripheral blood levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).the risk scores of TIMI were calculated . the serumal levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 were compared among the different risk scores groups.all UAP patients were divided into defferent groups according to the levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 . all UAP patients were followed up during 30 days and 90 days. Cardiovascular events during observation were record. The incidence of cardiovascular event in defferent groups were compare ed. All result were analyzed with SPSS 13.0.Results: (1) The peripheral blood levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 were higher in angina patients than in control group(all P<0.001); compared UA group with SA group, P<0.001; compared SAP group with control group, P<0.001.(2) The peripheral blood level of M-CSF was significantly positive correlated with the risk scores of TIMI.(3) The incidence of cardiovascular events during 30 days and 90 days increased when the levels of M-CSF or sICAM-1 was high. (4) when the levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 were combined detected , The incidence of cardiovascular event in patients with high levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 were the highest among the four groups P<0.01. Conclusions: (1) The peripheral blood levels of M-CSF and sICAM-1 in patients with UA can reflect the patients, condition. Both of them have reference value in the dangerous evaluation of patients with UA.(2) either M-CSF or sICAM-1 can predict the short term prognosis of patients with UA. (3) The combinated detection of peripheral blood levels of M-CSF and ICAM-1 have significant clinical value in predicting the short term prognosis and in the dangerous evaluation of patients with UAP.
