Objectives: To understand the current status, demand and supply of reproductive health service of the child-bearing people in Suzhou, to provide general information and scientific basis for further service of reproductive health and macroscopic regulation of government.Methods: By the multi-stage cluster and simple randomization method, 13780 child-bearing people in Suzhou were acquired. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to investigate the population characteristics, reproductive health knowledge, use and demand by use of a uniform questionnaire. The investigators who had the unified training conducted among households. The investigation is anonymous. All data were analyzed by SPSS12.0.Results: (1) Demographical information: Survey of the different gender, age, education, occupation, marital status, domicile and the state of the economy. Men's the largest number was 30 to 34 years old, women's was 25~29 years old, the average age of the young was 18.86±2.68 years old. Men and women's education were mostly senior school level, the young's was junior high school level. Suzhou locals accounted for about three quarters. (2) Knowledge on reproductive health: The proportion of master the knowledge on reproductive health of the child-bearing people in Suzhou was between 38.1% and 93.1%; there was a significant difference between the adults and the young, the females and the males, the natives and the foreigners. (3) Reproductive health knowledge use: 46.4% of women who have abortions done or induction of labor, of which done two times or two times more accounted for 29.8%. Those who had premarital sex were accounted for 8.5% and the initial sexual activity at the age of 20.0 years. 14.3% of respondents expressed"acceptable"extra-marital sex, there is a significant difference between the adolescents and the adults, the males and the females, the foreigners and the natives. (4) Demand for reproductive health services: The child-bearing people in Suzhou are most willing to through"books and journals"to study"sexual and reproductive health services and information". Once encounter reproductive health problems they will be the first choice the"specialist hospitals"which has"high professional standards".Conclusion: The reproductive health knowledge of the child-bearing people in Suzhou needs to be raised, and the different population groups with a greater degree of difference; Reproductive health knowledge use is not very well, and the sex attitude is more tolerant and open; Reproductive health demand is urgent. Should gradually establish a comprehensive, open reproductive health education model; reproductive health education should be provided targeted crowd's weak; strengthen coordination and efficiency of contraception, reduce the abortion rate and the rate of repeat abortions; to encourage and promote male involvement in family planning; and enhance the young's self-protection awareness and promote safe sex.
