Clinical Significance Of Osteopontin And Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 In Plasma Of Patients With Gastric Cancer

Gastric carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in the World In our nation ,the screening of gastric carcinoma cannot be popularized,mainly because there are not simple ,specific and sensitive methods in gastric carcinoma diagnosis. the endoscopy and x-ray diadynamic diagnosis still remain main method,the final diagnosis still require the pathologic examination of biopsy. Therefore, how to increase the screening of gastric carcinoma is the premise and key to enhance the effect of treating gastric carcinoma .Recently, osteopontin (OPN) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) has been improved to associate with tumor's happening and development and play an important role in the invasion, metastasis and relapse of tumor .For example, some researches indicate that high expression of OPN and MMP-9 can be found in many tissues of malignant solid tumors such as stomach, large intestine and cervix . However, There are few reports on relations between OPN and MMP-9 in plasma and diagnosis and treatment of patients with tumor, especially gastric cancer .But ,the detection of OPN and MMP-9 in plasma is simpler, quicker and harmless. This research discloses clinical significance in gastric cancer patients'treatment, diagnosis, prognosis, evaluation and monitoring of OPN and MMP-9 by detection of them in plasma of patients with gastric cancer.Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of osteopontin and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)in plasma of patients with gastric cancer.Methods: Plasma level of osteopontin and matrix metalloproteinase-9 were detected by ABC-ELISA method in 51 patients with gastric cancer,29 patients with chronic atrophic gastritis,31 normal peoples and 29 patients with gastric cancer which had been cut away before 6-12months.The relationship between them and clinical significance of gastric cancer in its treatment,diagnosis and prognosis evaluation is analyzed.Results: (1)The lever of OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of gastric cancer group is higher than normal group and chronic atrophic gastritis;(2)The lever of OPN and MMP-9 in gastric cancer patients'plasma is correlated with stage and prognosis, but not correlation with the sex ,age ,size of tumor and degrees of differentiation;(3)The lever of OPN and MMP-9 in patients with metastasis, relapse and the departed saint is higher than in patients with not;(4)Preoperative and postoperative levels of OPN and MMP-9 in serum of gastric cancer group are obviously different; (5)The lever of between OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of gastric cancer group also has some correlation.Conclusion:(1)The lever of OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of patients with gastric cancer can reflect the burthen of gastric tumor;(2)The lever of OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of patients with tumor's invasion ,metastasis and relapse has some correlation.(3)OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of gastric cancer may cooperate with each other in happening and development of Gastric cancer;(4)OPN and MMP-9 in plasma of patients with gastric cancer can be considered as a maker of gastric cancer and has greatly significance in monitoring of gastric cancer;(5)The detection of OPN and MMP-9 in plasma, especially the detection of OPN in combination with MMP-9 in plasma has important clinical significance in treatment,diagnosis,prognosis evaluation and monitoring of gastric cancer patients.
