Guiyujin is sourced from the radix of Curcuma kwangsiensis S. G. Lee. et C. F. Liang, and used as Radix Curcumae in the clinic of traditional Chinese medicine, along with Wenyujin, Huangsiyujin and Lusiyujin. It is necessary to enhance the quality management and the research of chemistry because the origin plants of the Radix Curcumae are very complex and always used in one name. Guiyuijn is the main source of Radix Curcumae in markets, but it is investigated less than Wenyujin that be focused because its volatile oil and curcumenol have the anticancer activity. It is essential to launch the further chemical and pharmcological reaserach on Guiyujin. In order to supply some theory base for the quality management and pharmacodynamics research, this paper based on some chemical research on Guiyujin and correlated part of Curcuma kwangsiensis S. G. Lee. et C. F. Liang.Firstly, accord to the clinical usage, we pay the emphasizes on the Chinese medicine decoction of Guiyujin, and isolated 12 compounds by the chromatography on the macroporous resin, silical gel and crystallization. 10 Compounds were identified as zedoarolide B (compoundⅠ), daucosterol (compoundⅡ), zedoarondiol (compoundⅢ), zedoalactone A (compoundⅣ), isozedoarondiol (compoundⅤ), alismoxide (compoundⅥ), curcumenol (compoundⅦ),β-sitosterol (compoundⅧ), Guaidiol (compoundⅨ) and curumenone(compoundⅩ). CompoundsⅠ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ,Ⅵ,Ⅶ,ⅨandⅩwere isolated from Curcuma kwangsiensis for the first time.Secondly, the volatile oil of 12 samples origined from Curcuma kwangsiensis collected from four growing areas were extracted by the steam distillation and were compared by the content of volatile oil, GC and GC-MS chromatogram. The content of volatile oil was highest in the rhizome from Mengshan county of Hezhou, the content of volatile oil was highest in the radix from Lipu county of Guilin, and the content of volatile oil was highest in the fibrous root from Lipu county of Guilin. The GC chromatogram showed that the volatile oil of same part from different growing aereas had no significant difference, and the oil in the fibrous root was very similar with that of radix. It is advised that fibrous root should be used like the radix in the volatile oil product in order to decrease the waste of medicine plant. The compositions of volatile oil from rhizome and radix were detected and identified by GC-MS. 122 Compounds were detected and 25 of them were identified in the rhizome. the major compounds are germacrone(6.99%) , camphor(4.87%) and benzofuran(4.65%).103 Compounds were detected and 29 of them were identified in the radix. the major compounds are 6-vinyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-3-6-dimethyl-5-isoacryl-syn-benzofuran (15.65%) and germacrone(12.65%).Cacamphene,β-pinene,β-myrcene,β-agarol,camphoral,isoborneol,borneo camphor,p-menth-1-en-8-ol,borneol acetate,τ-elemene,germacrene and germacrone were owned by both parts.Thirdly, a quantitative method for curcumenol in Radix Curcumae was established by HPLC for the first time and the measure method of volatility sesquiterpenoids by HPLC was discussed. 32 samples were determined under the established method by HPLC , the contents is between 0.0043 and 1.2554mg/g.The experiment data showed that the content of curcumenol was hingest in Huangsiyujin (the hingest is1.2554mg/g)and Chuanyujin (the hingest is0.6344mg/g),the content of curcumenol was the lowest in Guiyujin (the hingest is0.1511mg/g) .The content of 32 radix curcumae samples during 0.0043 and 1.2544mg/g,this data may supply a valuable reference for the quality management.
