Objective:To investigate the changes of urine Leukotriene E4(LTE4)and blood Eosinophil(Eos) in bronchial asthma children during the stage of exacerbation.persistent and remission,and to explore the association between two markers and their clinical significance.Methods:The levels of urine LTE4 was measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)and blood Eos was measured by blood cell analyzer in the asthma children(n=75) during exacerbation(n=30).persistent(n=15)and remission(n=30)stage,as well as normal children(n=20).The exacerbation group was divided into three groups according to the severity of the asthma:mild asthma group(n=10),moderat asthma group(n=10)and severe asthma group(n=10).Results:1.There were no significant difference in the levels of urine LTE4 between exacerbation and persistent(q=0.35,P<0.05);the levels of urine LTE4 in exacerbation were significantly higher than those in remission and normal control group(q=6.87,7.93,P<0.05);the levels of urine LTE4 in persistent were significantly higher than remission and normal control group(q=6.08,7.20,P<0.05);the levels of urine LTE4 in remission were higher than normal control group(q=3.86,P<0.05).2.There were no significant differences in the levels of blood Eos among exacerbation,remission and normal control group(q=1.70,2.96,2.11,P>0.05). The blood Eos of persistent was significantly higher than exacerbation,remission and persistent normal control group(q=4.32,6.17,8.55,P<0.05).3.In the exacerbation group,there were significant differences(P<0.05)in the levels of urine LTE4 among mild asthma group,moderat asthma group and severe asthma group(q=4.17,9.16,6.53,P<0.05);the levels of urine LTE4 increased with the severity of asthma.4.There was positive relation between the levels of urine LTE4 and blood Eos count in persistent group(r=0.656,P<0.05);There was no relation between the levels of urine LTE4 and blood Eos count in exacerbation and remission (r=0.184,0.156,P>0.05);Conclusion:We found the levels of urine LTE4 of each stages of asthma children obviously increased compared with normal control,the change of urine LTE4 was consistent with the severity of asthma,that indicated Leukotriene is contributed to the development of asthma children.The levels of urine LTE4 may serve as an index of the degree of asthma attack,the measurement of urine LTE4 was simple.convenient and harmless,It may be a better marker of airway inflammation for asthma childrenand and can be used to judge the severity of bronchial asthma and guide asthma management.
