Objectif: To investigate the relationship between placenta infection and high risk factors in perinatal period. Methods: 105 new infants born in the first affiliated hospital of Kunming medical college from November in 2006 to February in 2007 were selected. The placentas were taken for pathology detection and smear to search bacterium and the gastric fluid was smeared too. Some infants with high risk factors in perinatal period and/or abnormal appearance were transferred to NICU. The infants were divided into two groups, based on placenta pathology detection result: infection group and non- infection group and then analyze the relationship between neonatal prognosis and high risk factors in perinatal period. Results: 1.There is a significant correlation between perinatal period high risk factors (premature rupture of membrane(≥12h), meconium clouding or staining of amniotic fluid and prematurity of unknown origin) and placenta infection (P<0. 05). 2. The number of preterm infants and early bacterial infection infants in placenta infection group is significantly increased (P<0.05) .Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between perinatal period high risk factors(premature rupture of membrane(≥12h), meconiura clouding or staining of amniotic fluid and prematurity of unknown origin) and placenta infection, especially meconium clouding or staining of amniotic fluid. There is a significant correlation between the number of preterm infants, early bacterial infection infants and placenta infection.
