| One medicine has its own characteristic, and then the prescription has its own wondrous curative effect, the compound prescriptions have been recognized as superiority and characteristic of Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years.The ginseng has a long history, from zhong-jing period to now "every book related to the ginseng in Ming dynasty". However in modern times, whether the pharmacopoeia or the general Chinese medicine teaching material, just say that sweet, little bitter, little mild or gentle; nourishing yuan-qi, spleen and lung, promoting saliva or body fluids and calming nerves, etc. They didn't realize the ginseng could also apply to many symptoms. It can use to the prescriptions which relieving exterior syndrome, mediating, purging heat, promoting the circulation of qi, and clearing interior heat by reasonable combined with many other Traditional Chinese Medicines, and treat medical diseases etc., thus we could make use of its advantage and avoid its disadvantage. This is the mutually affects between medicines and make the ginseng change its capability.The purpose of the article is to collect many data from Chinese medicine classical books and modern pharmacology research which related ginseng, and to discuss the mechanism and the commonly combined principle of ginseng through the reasonable combined which expand its application scopes , moreover mainly to discuss that some medicine is different from ginseng, even opposite to ginseng in the functions, then to discover the principium which contains, in order to seek the new direction of Chinese medicine and use medicines effectively in clinic for providing the basis.
