Cardiac reserve is the possibility of the up-regulating of cardiac function, which reflects how much the cardiac potential is. The reduction or loss of cardiac reserve leads to poor prognosis and inability to cope with stress, such as exercise or labor, even a little stronger daily activity. Meta analysis is used to analyze the data from domestic and overseas and from the survey carried out by this study, so as to evaluate the effect of exercise and pregnancy, and to estimate the cut-off value of the ratio of diastolic phase duration to systolic phase duration (D/S) between pre-pregnant and pregnant women, and among different pregnant periods.According to the requirements of Cochrane Collaboration, to frame suitable searching strategy and selective criteria and exclusive criteria; in virtue of the source from PubMed, CBM, IEEE, WanFang Database etc, to search studies about'cardiac reserve'; through the evaluation on data by author and another member of our group, to confirm selective Meta analysis data under the criteria of selecting and excluding; with the help of cardiac reserve data from population-based Investigation analysis and management system designed by author, to collect five set of data from five cooperative centers; by way of weighted mean difference (WMD) working as effect size, to evaluate the effect of exercise and pregnancy; with method of receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve, to evaluate the cut-off point of D/S between pre-pregnant and pregnan woman, and among different pregnant periods woman.According to the rearching strategy confirmed in advanced, both 12 articles on cardiac reserve and 1 treatise by hands-searching have been got through searching PubMed, CBM and other databases. Under the criteria of selecting and excluding, 4 suitable articles on comparison research are filtered out, which are all randomized control trials (RCTs). The results of RevMan4.2 and SPSS11.5 indicate that, sportman's cardiac reserve is distinctly different from common person. Thus, it provides an efficient index for the evaluation of cardiac reserve by cardiac contractility reserve index (CCRI) and execise is benefit to enhancement of cardiac reserve. In addition, the analysis of 5 selected surveys indicates that cardiac reserve of pregnant women is distinctly different from that of pre-pregnant women. It also provides an efficient index for pre-pregnant and pregnant women by D/S and pregnancy utilizes cardiac reserve, making its potential decreased. According to ROC curve, the cut-off value of D/S of pre-pregnant and pregnant women, and different pregnant periods are 1.445, 1.275, respectively, sensitivily of which are 82.4%, 65.7%, respectively. In this paper, analysis results of Meta analysis of cardiac reserve data of common person and sportmen, pre-pregnant and pregnant women, different pregnant periods are described. It concludes that CCRI and D/S can be used to evaluate cardiac reserve effectively and cut-off value of D/S of pre-pregnant and pregnant women, different pregnant periods provide a foundation for ensuring cardiac health of pregnant women.
