Objective:To investigate the value of Tei index derived from tissue Doppler image in evaluation of right ventrieular function with chronic cor pulmoale.Methods:39 patients were divided into two groups according to the pulmonary artery systolic pressure, which derived from the tricuspid regurgitation maximum pressure gradient and left atrium size(groupⅠ,20,SPAP<50mmHg,mean 41.44±6.54;groupⅡ,19,SPAP≥50mmHg,mean 61.98±10.06).Some traditional ultrasonic right ventricular parameters(MPA,RPA,RA,RV,RVWT)and heart rate were involved in this study. In addition,The tricuspid annular motion was obtain by PW-TDI and Tei index was calculated.MPI=(ICT+IRT)/ET=(a-b)/bRusults:The diameter of MPA and RPA were increased in groupⅠand groupⅡ(P<0.01); There were no statistically significant difference between groupⅠand contract in the size of ventricular(P>0.05),but the results were smaller than that in groupⅡ(P<0.01);Compared with control group,Right ventricular TDI-Tei index of cor pulmonale was increased significantly compared with control(P<0.05=0.014),and TDI-Tei index in groupⅡwas higher than that in groupⅠ(P<0.01).Moreover,TDI-Tei index in patient with cor pulmonale was independent on age and heart rate. There was a positive linear correlation between right ventricular TDI-Tei index and pulmonary artery systolic pressure(r=0.77,P<0.01)Conclusions:Tei index measured by tissue Doppler acquired from tricuspid annulus is an easy and useful quantitative parameter with high sensitivity and reproducibility for assessing right ventricular function in patients with chronic cor pulmonale.
