Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine if kinematic CT can beapplied to thepatellofemoral joint using spiral CT scanner design in patients with anterior knee pain and thusa suspected patellar tracking disorder. Methods: . Sixty knees in 30 patients with anterior knee pain were evaluated with kinematicCT. A single 10-sec exposure of the patellofemoral joint was obtained during flexion (0°, 10°,20°, 30°) . The changes in lateral patellofemoral angle, congruence angle femoral trochlearangle were measured. Results: Kinematic CT was successfully used in all 60 knees. There were 15 knees withpatellar lateral subluxation, 16 knees with patellar lateral tilt. Contarasted with other degrees,Theknee in flexion 20°and 10°were important position in observing patellar lateral subluxation andlateral shift in patellofemoral joint. Conclusion: . Kinematic CT was a technique that can be easily performed on the patellofemoraljoint. The knee in flexion 20°and 10°was a important position in observing malalignment inpatellofemoral joint.
