Objective: To summarize the modus and therapeutic effect on treatinginfectious nonunion accompany with bone defect with first-stage bonegrafting.Method: Thirty-one patients with infectious nonunion were chose inthis group ,all that were treated with first-stage bone graftingafter extensive debridement. All patients, had been followed up for9 to 84 months and for an average of 30.77 months, were summarizedon union , heal of wound and functional rehabilitation, Theevaluation criterion in time of recovery, union and functionalrehabilitation were used to evaluate these patients.Results: Thirty patients was cured , and 1 patient was amputated.Evaluation in time of recovery: Healing time of infectious wound was6.27 weeks on average whilethe clinical union time of the bone was5.13 months. The time of complete bearing of skeletal limb was 7.10months. The result of treating on union were excellent in 27 patients,good in 3 patients, fair in zero, poor in 1 patients, whilethe resultof function were excellent in 26 patients, good in 4 patients, fairin zero, poor in 1 patients.Conclusion: The treating of infectious nonunion and bone defect withfirst-stage bone grafting is viable , while extensive debridementand well overjet of soft tissue.
