Postoperative Complications And Treatment Of Pituitary Adenoma

Objective To Summarize occurrence proportion of pituitary adenomapostoperative complications and treatment methods and give reference forprecaution and treatment of pituitary adenoma postoperative complications.Methods By means of a retrospective analysis to pituitary adenomapostoperative complications and treatment methods of 512 cases in ourhospital from 1996to 2005Results The occurrence proportion of pituitary adenoma postoperativecomplications out of total 512 cases is 75.00% (384 cases), diabetesinsipidus is 56.44%(289cases), 193patients (37.69%) are waterelectrolyte turbulence, 49 patients(9.57%) have high fever (＞39℃), 25patients (8.25%) occur hyperglycemia (＞10mmol/l) and 42 patients (8.20%)suffer cerebrospinal fluid rhinorhea, 3 patients (0.59%) died as well as someother complications such as intracranial infection, hypopituitarism, hyposmiaand sight deteriorate etc. Most diabetes insipidus patients are transitory,which account for 70.24% of the total; and by means of treatment of usingantidiuretic hormone, most of the cases are cured. 72.97% of cerebrospinalfluid rhinorrhea patients stop by themselves by means of recumbencystretched out, and 18.91% cases are cured by lumber drainage. Cases of othercomplications acquire good effect through appropriate treatment. Conclusion Pituitary adenoma postoperative complications have a lotof different types and a relatively high occurrence proportion; most of patientcan be cured by means of corresponding treatment in spite of small numberof cases are unsolved and hard to cure that need long-term pharmacotherapy.Strengthen pre-operation preparations, improve operation skill, familiarizetopographic structure, keep close post-operation watch over change ofpatients' condition and promptly make corresponding solutions can reduceoccurrence of complications, accelerate complication recovery and improvecure rate.
