Objective: To discuss the effective methods of enteral nutritional support in patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods: 75 case of patients with severe craniocerebral injury were randomly divided into three groups: early enteral feeding(EEF) general nasogastric feeding (Group A), EEF nasointestinal tube feeding (Group B) and total parenteral nutrition (Group C). Each group was equal in calorie and nitrogen intakes, and the change of nutrition indexes, the incidence of complications and the GCS level were observed. Results: On the 14th hospital day, with equal amounts of calorie and nitrogen intakes, the nutrition indexes in group A and group B were better than that in group C (P<0.05). There was no significant differencebetween the nutrition indexes in group A and that in group B (P>0.05). The level of GCS in group A and group B were obviously higher than that in group C (P<0.05). The incidences of complications in infection and upper gastrointestinal bleeding in group C were distinctively higher than that in the other two groups (P<0.05). The proportion of patients with abdominal distension, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms in group B was distinctively lower than that in the other two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion: Early enteral nutritional support was proved to be more beneficial in the treatment of patients with severe craniocerebral injury. EEF with nasointestinal tube can effectively improve gastrointestinal tolerance and decrease the incidence of complications.
