Objective: To study the expression of CXCR4 in acute leukemic cells and it's clinical significance. Method: The bone marrow mononuclear cell(BMMNC) from 33 patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia(AL) and 7 healthy adults were chose for study objects. The expression of CXCR4 on BMMNC's membrane were detected by four color flow cytometry(FCM). 2 cycles of conventional chemotherapy was given to the newly diagnosed 33 patients with AL and the relationships among the expression of CXCR4 ,the clinical symptoms ,the response to treatment were analyzed . Result: The expression of CXCR4 for AL group (44.81 ±21.26%) was markedly higher than that in control group(3.55±1.57%), p<0.01; the expression of CXCR4 in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) group(58.80±16.64%) was obviously higher than that in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) group(34.50±18.53), p<0.01; the expression of CXCR4 in AML group was markedly higher than that in control group either, p <0.01; the expression of CXCR4 in patients with extra-marrow infiltration group (53.40±23.05) was higher than that in patients without extra-marrow infiltration group (36.72±16.20%), p<0.05; the incidence of extra-marrow infiltration in high expression of CXCR4 group(> 44.81%) was 80.00%; in low expression of CXCR4 group(< 44.81%) was 22.22%, the difference of CXCR4 expression between the two group is significant (p<0.01).The incidence of extra-marrow infiltration in high-number white blood cell(WBC) group was 75.00%, in both high group was 83.33%, in both low group was 14.29%, the incidence of the two groups were markedly different, p < 0.01.The expression of CXCR4 in high-number of WBC group(63.08±18.46%) was markedly higher than in non-high-number of WBC group(32.82±14.15%) p<0.01.Though the difference between the incidence of complete remission(CR) in high CXCR4 expression group (80.00%) and in low expression group (94.00%)is not significant, p>0.05, but the expression of CXCR4 in CR group (40.30±17.94)is less than that in the...
