superior oblique palsy is thought to be the most frequent cause of vertical deviation. It divided into congenital and acquired superior oblique palsy. Because CSOP caused symptom early, vision acuity is the developmental stage, many patients have the typical compensation head posture; Acquired superior oblique palsy may occur unexpectedly diplopia,dizzy,dysmorphopsia due to perfect visual function, Patients felt sensory discomfort especially downword fixation and many of them have not typical tilt head posture. CSOP is diagnosed and undergos surgical management in early, To discuss which surgery is an appropriate treatment for the different classification of congenital superior oblique palsy , in order to establishment consummate bilateral vision acuity, avoiding abnormal development of face,C-spine and spine; ASOP need surgery who treat with drug for 4 months but nonresponder. Surgery of ASOP is to recover bilateral single vision and rectify the abnormal head posture.Purpose.To analyze and study the clinical characteristics of isaolated superior oblique palsies and principal for the choice of surgical treatments.Methods13 superior oblique palsy patients over were treated with surgery in peking university opthmology from Oct, 2005 to March, 2006.
