To study their roles in the development of congenital cataracts. [Methods] The experimental group came from anterior capsular after extracapsluar cataract extraction of patients with congenital cataracts, age from 3 month to 1 year. The control group came from anterior capsular of embryos with transparent lens, age from 24w to 30w. They were investigated by real-time fluorescene quantitative poly chain reaction for the expression of mRNAs of bFGF and TGF-β1.Then compare the results of the control group and the experimental group and analyze the correlation between TGF-β1 and bFGF.[Results] 1.TGF-β1 were expressed in both the experimental group and the control group. The relative mRNA levels were 30.81 ± 5.33 in the control group, 103. 66±13. 78 in the experimental group. The mRNA level of TGF-β1 was higher in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0. 05).2. BFGF were expressed in both the experimental group and the control group. The relative mRNA levels were 136. 78 ± 14. 09 in the control group, 286. 22± 15. 86 in the experimental group. The mRNA levels of bFGF was higher in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0. 05).3.The positive correlation had been found between bFGF and TGF-β1 (r=0.7985) (P<0. 05).[ Conclusions] 1. TGF- β1 and bFGF were expressed both in the control group and in the experimental group .2. TGF-β1 and bFGF were higher in the experimental group than in the control group suggest that TGF-β1 and bFGF may cause the deveploment of congenital cataract.3. TGF-β1 and bFGF have a positive correlation in the deveploment of congenital cataract.
