The Study Of Chinese Duplication Phrase In Compendium Of Materia Medica

Compendium of Materia Medica is one of the most famous books on Chinese traditional medicine, which composed by Li Shi–zhen, a pharmaceutist of Ming-dynasty. This book is not only significantly important Chinese traditional medicine, but also the invaluable material in the study of linguistics. This thesis selected the duplication phrase as the study object, based on the well collected Chinese duplication phrases in Compendium of Materia Medica, and comparison of the statistical data of the rhetorical functions characteristic of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica and the former Traditional Chinese Medicine's literatures, the acceptation of some duplication phrase which hardly appeared in the former Traditional Chinese Medicine's literatures, were discussed. Hence enriched content of the Chinese duplication phrase's development in the ancient medicinal literatures and the history of linguistics can be achieved, with some evidence for Chinese lexics.The dissertation consists of the several chapters: the first chapter, introduced the book of Compendium of Materia Medica. The second chapter——exordium, the first, confirmed the the study object, including the definiens of duplication phrase and the choose of edition; secondly expatiated on the study significance from the mass embodiment of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica, the significance of precise understanding the duplication phrase, the lack of the former study of duplication phrase; then, illuminated the three study means, including single book, comparing and contrasting, statistical technique. The third chapter——the classify and statistics of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica from several different aspects of the frequency, morphological formation, parts of speech, grammar. The fourthchapter——the rhetorical function of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica, through classified the duplication phrase with the rhetorical object, discussed the rhetorical function of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica. The fifth chapter——the characteristic of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica:for one thing, the rhetorical range of duplication phrase in Compendium of Materia Medica had changed from the word of symptom to the word of herbal medicine; for another thing, the multiplicity of the quomodo about using word (the different words express the same acceptation, the different words express the each characteristic of the connatural thing, the same word express the different acceptation). The sixth chapter——discussed the acceptation of some duplication phrase. In the part, some famed monographs about the Old Chinese Semantics and Traditional Chinese Medicine, and some reference books will be refered, for example Shuo Wen Jie Zi, Er Ya Yi Shu, Guang Ya Shu Zheng, the gloze of Shi San Jing, Tong Ya, Da Guan Yi Hui Yu Pian, the headstream of Chinese character, Guan Yun, Ji Yun, the dictionary of Kang Xi, the Dictionary of Chinese Etymology, the dictionary of the Chinese duplication phrase, the dictionary of Chinese, Huang Di Nei Jing Ji Zhu, Shang Han Lun Ji Zhu, the dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the dictionary of Chinese duplication phrase etc. And it will be known the lack of study about duplication phrase of ancient medicinal literatures in the monograph of the present age. The last is epilogue about summarizing the object and result of the study, how to consummate this study and the plan of the next research.
