Objective To observe the effects of recombinant human erythropoietin and beta-aescinate sodium on motor function of limbs and iNOS expression after spinal cord injury in rats.Methods Using improved Allen's method to duplicate the big rat spinal cord injury model. 42 SD big rats stochastically divides into the blank group (GroupA,n =6), the injury group (GroupB,n =12), the rHu-EPO group (GroupC,n =12) and the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group (GroupD,n =12), executes (1d, 7d and 14d) separately in the technique latter 3 time spot. Uses the combined behavioral score (CBS), the sloping plate experiment, the cellulary tissue pathology change and the immunity group dyeing examines the iNOS masculine cell rate change to carry on theanalysis.Results 1. The CBS and the sloping plate experiment: The 7d, 14d after injury the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group, the rHu-EPO group was significantly difference with the injury group (P<0.01), the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group was significantly difference with the rHu-EPO group(P<0.05). 2. Histology and pathology: the rHu-EPO group change obviously reduces than the injury group spinal cord histology pathology; the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group alleviate more obviously. 3. iNOS masculine cell: the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group, the rHu-EPO group and the injury group all discovered the iNOS masculine cell expression, after 1d the iNOS obvious expression, it is achieving the high point in 7d, later gradually reduce. And the rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate sodium group, the rHu-EPO group was significantly difference with the injury group (P<0.01); The blank group only few iNOS masculine cell expression.Conclusion rHu-EPO could reduce the iNOS masculine cell expression and it could distinctly advance the reestablishing of the nerve function and protect the nerve tissue.The joined application of rHu-EPO and beta-aescinate Sodium was more effective. It could promote the recovery of motor function after the experimental acute spinal cord injury in rats.
