Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) , atrial septal defect (ASD) and ventricular septal defect (VSD) are common in patients with congenital heart diseases (CHD), which can be cured by interventional cardiology procedures. Now using Amplatzer occluder is the most wide and efficient interventional treatment for transcatheter closure of PDA,ASD,VSD.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical results, securities and complications of transcatheter closure of PDA,ASD,VSD with Amplatzer occluder and discuss the prevention and management of complications.METHOD: A total of 362 patients with PDA,ASD and VSD in 117 Hospital and the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University were enrolled from January 1999 to December 2006. These patients were diagnosed by ECG, chest X-ray and echocardiography. All the patients underwent transcatheter occlusion with Amplatzer occluders. And the success rate , clinical results, securities and complications were analyzedRESULT:1. Devices were successfully implanted in 351 of 362 patients (96.7%). The success rate of PDA group was 100%. The success rate of ASD group was 96.9%. The success rate of VSD group was 93.8%.2 . Complete occlusion at one time was observed in 327 of 351 patients. Mild residual shunt was observed in 4 of 351 patients.3 . Severe complications occurred in 9 cases (2.49%). None patients were dead.CONCLUSION: Transcatheter closure of PDA,ASD,VSD with Amplatzer occluders is a safe and efficient nonsurgical method for its high success rate, low residual shunt rate and low severe complication rate.
