Abstract/Summary:
To report our initial experience of retroperitoneum laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. From December 2001 to September 2006, 30 pafients including 18 renal cell cancer, 8 hamartoma and 4 duplex kidney underwent retroperitoneum laparoseopie partial nephrectomy, one of which is solitary kidney. All the operations went successfully except for one requiring conversion to retroperitoneum laparoscopic nephrectomy because of bleeding resulting from blocking anterior branch of renal artery only. The average operative time was 120 min (60~240 min), and average ischemia time was 30 min(18~50 min). The estimated bleeding volume fluctuated from 100ml to 300 ml, and no patient was treated with blood transfusion. All renal tumor masses were completely removed with negative surgical margins, except for one patient with duplex kidney required a open partial nephrectomysubsequently because of renal cystic mass resulting from uncompletelly resection. Retroperitoneum laparoscopic partial nephrectomy offers a new effective and minimally invasive treatment to select patients with renal mass, which need a further assessment in the long run .
