Part I The Carniofacial Contour Measurement in AdolescencyX-ray Cephalometry is proposed by Broabbent and Hofrath in 1913. It is a shadow through measuring X-ray cephalogram photo. It makes an analysis of measure for each sign among tooth, maxilla and craniofacial. Thus, it will help to understand the configuration of their tissue. It is helpful for the diagnoses of craniofacial and tooth from external modality deep into intramural configuration. X-ray Cephalometry is one of the important instruments of orthodontic treatment and orthognathous surgery. This experimentation is a study which aims at the characteristic of growth of the craniofacial contour in adolescences, through shooting lateral cephalogram and posteroanterior cephalogram, and using this shadow to do projective measure.1 The effect of the carniofacial contour development by Class II in adolescencyObjective: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the craniofacial contour development by Class II in adolescency. Methods:The sample consisted of 362 Class II patients.Divide these patients into two groups. One group is youngster, and the other is adult. The cephalometry and the posteroanterior cephalogram was taken. Compared and analysed the result. Result: Result indicated that: (1) Compared with normal occlusion youngsters, the ClassII younger patients' mandible length were shorter, but they didn't have significant statistical difference. (2) Compared with normal occlusion adult, the Class II adultpatients' mandible length were shorter and had significant statistical difference. (3)In the adolescency, the Class II patients' mandibles has a trend that they rotate up and forward. Conclusion: During the development of adolescency, the malformation in carniofacial of Class II patients were seriously. The present finding will help to make reasonable diagnosis and treatment planning.2 The change of craniofacial contour in adolecencyObjective: The purpose of the study was to determine the change of the craniofacial contour in adolescency. Methods:The sample consisted of 179 patients , no history of orthodontic treatment, and good facial balance. Divide these patients into two groups. One group is youngster, and the other is adult. Take the cephalometry of them. Compared and analysed the result. Result: Result indicated that: (1) all of the angles decrease, the mandible plane angle decrease significant in male. (2) male's mandible increase more than female's in adolescency. (3) the craniofacial contour of male usually greater than female. Conclusion: The present results will help to make reasonable diagnosis and treatment planning.Part II Three Diamensional Measurement of the Craniofacial Contour and Mastication MusclesComputed tomography is very broad in medical domain. The system of three-dimensional reconstruction can not only turn the picture to any angle and cut from any lay, but it also can make an accurate measure from distance, angle, exterior and volume. Because of discretionary incision, it could reveal bones and the surface of articular individually, to observe deep structure and etc. It helps to know the anatomical configuration of mandible and muscle intuitively. Through three-dimensional measurement, the volume of masseter and the contour of facial for the elderly and Class III patients were measured.1 Three dimentional measurement skeletal craniofacial from and masticatory muscles of Class IIIObjective: To investigate the difference of skeletal craniofacial form and masticatory muscles between Class III maloclusion and normal occlusion. Method: Clollected Class III 32 patients.Computer tomograph (CT) of each subject were scanned.Measured the volume of masticatory muscle. Compared and analysed the result. Result: Result indicated that: (1) The value of volume and cross-section area of masticatory muscle in the experimental group were less than control group.(2)The value of face height, ramus height, mandible length, mandible plane angle, gonial angle and ANB in the experimental group were more than control group. Clonclusion: Both the craniofacial skeletal and the masticatory changed in Class III. The present finding will help to make reasonable diagnosis and treatment planning.2 The change of cranifofacial contour and masticatory muscles volume in old peopleObjective: The purpose of the study was to determine the change of the craniofacial contour in old people. Methods:The sample consisted of 34 patients , no history of orthodontic treatment, and good facial balance. Divide these patients into two groups. One group is older, and the other is adult. Take the cephalometry of them. Compared and analysed the result. Result: Result indicated that: (1) The value of volume and cross-section area of masticatory muscle in the older group were less than adult group. (2) The value of face height, ramus height, width of maxillary in the older group were more than adult group. Conclusion: The present results will help to make reasonable diagnosis and treatment planning.
