The elastic soft tissue deformation model is the deformable model for soft tissue deformation. With the evolvement of biomechanics and the improvement of computer's performance, it has gotten a great progress in physical deformable models. Mass-spring model and finite element model were proposed. Mass-spring model and finite element model are important points in this thesis.Mass-spring model is a simple physical model with high computation speed, but it has some drawbacks: low precision and bad robustness. As to the lowly precise drawback, parameter identification using genetic algorithms is done for the model in this paper.Finite element model(FEM) is a continuum model, so it can provide a more physical realistic simulation. The basic steps in using finite element model to compute deformation are listed with experiment results, Also based on the biomechanics properties of soft tissue, incompressible and anisotropic characters, two modifications are done for the finite element model. The last part is related to the mesh generation algorithm which is the most important part in finite element analysis(FEA). In our past work, mesh generation for FEA is simply done regularly, here Constrained Delaunay Method is introduced with experiment results, by which researchers can get automatic mesh generation of any complicated 3D object.
