ObjectThis study is aimed to investigate the biocompatibility of two types of guided bone regeneration collagen membranes, 'SCD membrane" and "Rinuo membrane", as well as their roles played in bone repair. This was made possible by comparing their capacity and features in guided bone regeneration during the repair of the critical calvarium defects on the rat model. The results from the current study can potentially serve as the base for the clinical application of these two bio-materials.MethodsThe animal model was established by creating the critical bone defects on the rat calvarium. By employing untreated blank group as control, the bone defect aligned in either side of the calvarium was covered by either SCD membrane or Ruino membrane.
